Signature
Dry Cupping & Scraping
Cupping Therapy has been a vital part of medicinal therapies in Asia for thousands of years. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Islamic Hijama cupping have long been used to treat a broad spectrum of conditions and now western practice is beginning to recognise the benefits. Dry Cupping, through the use of silicone cups and a vacuum applicator helps to stimulate blood flow, remove toxins and break up adhesions between the fascia. At Ground Up Wellness, we integrate Cupping Therapy into our Sports massages, or provide a general full body dry cupping session based on our clients needs. Speak to us to find out more information and to see how this treatment may be right for you.
Sports / Soft Tissue Therapy
A deep pressure massage that aims to release tension or pain in the soft tissues of the body via advanced techniques. Various soft tissue releases, muscle energy and neuromuscular techniques are used to aid the recovery process. Sport specific injuries such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, high hamstring tendinopathy, tennis elbow or shoulder impingements etc can be assessed, treated and supported through massage therapy, as well as post treatment mobility and strengthening exercises. This treatment can be general full body, or site specific dependent on your needs. Speak with us about a treatment plan today.
Holistic Massage
A Swedish style light/medium pressure massage that aims to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and help with de-stressing and deep relaxation. At Ground Up Wellness we believe that holistic massage should be truly holistic, therefore we use sound bowls and aromatherapy to enhance the experience and enable relaxation at the cell level. You deserve to unwind in a calm, nurturing and energising setting. Reward yourself and book in today.
Qi Meridian Massage
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treats the mind, body and spirit as a single entity. This holistic approach is derived from fundamental beliefs in Chinese culture, emphasising the inseparable nature of Self from the Universe, as well as the need for balance and harmony. When a person’s life force energy (Qi) flows smoothly through the body, it establishes a balance between the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical realms. If that flow and balance is upset, disease and illness is thought to arise. In Qi meridian massage, the application of massage and manipulation techniques aims to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi through the system, allowing the body to naturally heal itself. Qi meridian massage is similar to acupuncture, but the acupressure sites on the body are activated with manual massage pressure rather than needles.
Kuala Tantra Yoga
Tantra is an ancient Indian Practice. The oldest tantric texts indicate that tantric rituals were practised over 5000 years ago. The word Tantra in its simplest sense is derived from Sanskrit roots with "Tan," meaning to weave and "Tra" meaning to expand. It focuses on the principles of connectedness, or the idea that we are all "woven together." Tantric practice aims to encourage us to be awake to life, experiencing the beauty of each moment at that moment. In modern life, we fixate on the past and hope for the future, never truly experiencing the present. We believe that this conflict between a physical presence and an emotional absence creates a multitude of psychological and social impacts within us.
Hatha / Vinyasa / Yin
Yoga sessions can range from slow and restorative to fast and more vigorous. Hatha yoga involves gentle static poses that incorporate the breath, and is a good style of yoga to start with as a beginner. Vinyasa yoga is a more vigorous flowing yoga workout, with each move fluidly transitioning to the next with the breath. Yin yoga focuses on stillness and longer, deeper stretches of the connective tissues surrounding the muscles and joints, so you are encouraged to breathe deeply and relax into the poses for a period of time.
Chair yoga
Chair yoga is a form of yoga intended to provide the body with more mobility, flexibility, strength and space, all from a seated position for those who find it challenging to get down to the floor. This style of class can be done entirely in a chair or as a combo class with seated poses and optional standing poses along with balance and savasana. Classes can be vinyasa style, where each movement is associated with a breath and the class flows from pose to pose, or a more gentle style offering longer holds and pauses, and with the option to work on a particular part of the body.
